Privacy

Account information. When you sign in with Apple, the app receives your name and email address and uses them to create your account. Apple's Hide My Email is fully supported; if you choose it, Write Time only ever sees the relay address.

Things you create. Clock face designs, week plans, and brightness schedules are stored with your account so they sync between your phone and your clock.

Clock data. For each clock you pair, Write Time stores its serial number, the name you give it, its time zone, which schedule it's assigned, and periodic status reports from the clock (firmware version, connection state, and when it was last seen). This is what makes the dashboard and syncing work.

Usage analytics. To understand which features get used and where people get stuck, the app records when you use a fixed set of about 28 named actions (things like a screen being viewed, a face being applied, or pairing finishing). Each record carries your account ID, a random ID for that app session, timestamps, the app version, your iOS version, and your device model (for example iPhone16,2). These records contain no free text, none of the content of your designs or plans, and no clock serial numbers. This goes only to my own database (Google Firebase), the same service listed below. No third party receives it. You can turn it off with the "Share Usage Analytics" switch in Settings; it's on by default, and turning it off stops collection and discards anything not yet sent. Usage records also delete automatically after 400 days.

Feedback you send. If you send feedback from Settings › Feedback, the app includes your message, the category you pick, a screenshot if you choose to attach one, the name, serial number, and firmware of the clock you have selected, the app and iOS version, your device model, and a short trail of your last 30 or so in-app actions (just their names and times). The composer shows you exactly what will be sent before you send it. Because feedback is something you actively send, it goes even if the usage analytics switch is off.

What never leaves your home. The Wi-Fi credentials you enter during clock setup travel directly from your phone to the clock over Bluetooth and are stored only on the clock. They are never sent to or stored on any server.

No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. No advertising. No location access.

No access to your contacts, photos, or anything else on your phone.

Your data is never sold, shared for marketing, or used to train anything.
